The Thin Place is a spiritually charged allegorical drama about a place where heaven feels close, and God’s presence
becomes unmistakable. The award winning screenplay will be produced in Virgina, Spring 2026.
Logline
A disillusioned hedge fund manager retreats to a remote cabin in a world where the veil between heaven and earth grows thin, and there he encounters a mysterious family who guide him through a spiritual awakening.
Synopsis
When burnt-out entrepreneur Dan Cartwright reluctantly retreats to a remote Airbnb called Buena Vista, he anticipates a quiet weekend—perhaps a reset. Instead, he's drawn into a layered world where memory, mystery, and spiritual truth collide. Besieged by the prayers of his mother and confronted by a cryptic woman named Alethia, Dan faces an unraveling of his ego.
His blind attraction to Alethia spurs an invitation to dinner at a mysterious family farm where he meets her brother Chris, and father Alden. The unselfish views of Chris and benevolent charm of Alden challenge Dan to examine his view of the world. But the truth is too hard for Dan to handle, and an intervention is necessary.
Finally, Dan’s sister Ruth gives Dan an emotional ultimatum to accept the facts or face the consequences. As the boundaries between the physical and spiritual blur, Dan is forced to reckon with the weight of his past, the illusion of success, and the presence of something—someone—greater than himself. That revelation finally comes when another family member returns to the farm. Callum, an unpretentious man who is a force for good, bonds with Dan and dispels his fears.
Featuring a surreal narrative arc, mirror symbolism, and moments of heavenly realism, The Thin Place is a story of quiet awakening, painful honesty, and the redemptive power of forgiveness. The Thin Place invites audiences to consider the transformative power of forgiveness, the mystery of divine presence, and the hope that lies just beyond the veil.

SYNPOSIS
As a teenager, Kaitlyn Maddox was a cross country runner – and she was good! But her desire to lose weight made her decide to skip meals. The result was devastating. Her bones didn’t strengthen, and she became susceptible to fractures. The toll on her body was too much for her to continue to run and doctors advised her to give it up. As a young Christian girl this was a tremendous challenge to her faith. She was known as a runner – It was her identity.
So now what?
Kaitlyn needed to put her energy somewhere and that’s when she discovered mountain bike riding. Wanting to learn more about the sport, she took a job at a local bike shop. It was there she learned about mountain bike races. Her first race was the Shenandoah 100 miles race in Virginia. She barely finished! But her tenacity drove her to keep pursing the sport and over the next couple of years she became an expert racer. She also became a certified coach and started training cyclists for the Endurance Collective.
In 2021, Kaitlyn took second place in the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships. Believing she could win the championship in 2022, Kaitlyn set out on a rigorous training schedule. Tragically, she broke her leg in a skiing accident.
Again, she asked God, now what?
With the support of her husband and team partner, Blane, she set out to recover from her injury and to work her way back to being a top rider again. This film series follows her on that journey through trials, disappointments, and courage as she and Blane model their faith through endurance. They named their team, OutSpoke as a testimony to God that despite what the future may hold, they would always be witnesses for Christ in their sport and lives together.
To accomplish their goal, they chose to sacrifice everything and live in a van for two years and give it their best shot.
