SYNPOSIS
As a teenager, Kaitlyn Maddox was a cross country runner – and she was good! But her desire to lose weight made her decide to skip meals. The result was devastating. Her bones didn’t strengthen, and she became susceptible to fractures. The toll on her body was too much for her to continue to run and doctors advised her to give it up. As a young Christian girl this was a tremendous challenge to her faith. She was known as a runner – It was her identity.
So now what?
Kaitlyn needed to put her energy somewhere and that’s when she discovered mountain bike riding. Wanting to learn more about the sport, she took a job at a local bike shop. It was there she learned about mountain bike races. Her first race was the Shenandoah 100 miles race in Virginia. She barely finished! But her tenacity drove her to keep pursing the sport and over the next couple of years she became an expert racer. She also became a certified coach and started training cyclists for the Endurance Collective.
In 2021, Kaitlyn took second place in the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships. Believing she could win the championship in 2022, Kaitlyn set out on a rigorous training schedule. Tragically, she broke her leg in a skiing accident.
Again, she asked God, now what?
With the support of her husband and team partner, Blane, she set out to recover from her injury and to work her way back to being a top rider again. This film series follows her on that journey through trials, disappointments, and courage as she and Blane model their faith through endurance. They named their team, OutSpoke as a testimony to God that despite what the future may hold, they would always be witnesses for Christ in their sport and lives together.
To accomplish their goal, they chose to sacrifice everything and live in a van for two years and give it their best shot.
